Overnight Cinnamon Apple Baked French Toast Casserole is a delightful make-ahead dish that brings together the warm flavors of apples and cinnamon in a comforting breakfast. Perfect for holidays or brunch gatherings, this casserole features a soft, moist interior and a crunchy streusel topping. By soaking the bread overnight, it allows for flavorful absorption of the egg and milk mixture, creating a perfect balance of textures. Serve it warm with maple syrup for a satisfying start to your day.
Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
Chop the bread into bite-sized chunks with a serrated knife and place the chunks in a large bowl.
Chop the apples into small chunks and add them to the bowl with the bread, stirring gently to combine.
Lay the bread chunks and chopped apples in an even layer in the bottom of the dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugars, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, ensuring the top is saturated.
Cover the casserole and store it in the fridge overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C).
Bake the casserole uncovered for about 35-40 minutes.
While the casserole bakes, combine the dry ingredients for the streusel in a small bowl.
Add the butter to the dry mixture and mash it until crumbly.
Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the streusel over the top.
Bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the streusel is melted and crisp.
Allow the casserole to cool slightly and serve warm with syrup or other desired toppings.
