Brown Sugar Boba: Creamy Milk Tea with Caramelized Tapioca Pearls
By Ethan Parker
Make brown sugar boba in under 30 minutes with just a few ingredients for a sweet and creamy bubble tea. This recipe features caramelized flavors from brown sugar syrup and chewy tapioca pearls.
You’ll need tapioca pearls, brown sugar, black tea, and whole milk to create this delightful drink. The combination of these ingredients results in a rich sweetness that’s distinct from regular sugar, providing a deeper caramelized flavor.
While cooking, you’ll see the tapioca pearls transforming to a chewy texture, signaling they are done. A common mistake is not rinsing the pearls properly after cooking, which can leave them sticky.
Serve the brown sugar boba over ice, topping with milk and tea. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge, but the tapioca pearls may become firmer and less chewy overnight, so it's best enjoyed fresh.
